  1. Build a website using a program such as Arachnophilia (it's free) and can be downloaded from our website - go to 'Downloads' or you can use the html page makers that come with Netscape or IEYou must name one of your pages (usually your opening page) index.html or index.htm


  2. If you don't know html many of these programs have templates you can use to get you started and are easy to use since they are WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get).  Or you can use a simple tutorial from sites like Webmonkey or BigNoseBird.


  3. Be sure to remember where you store your files on your hard drive. It's a good idea to make a new folder, call it 'my page' for example, and store them there.


  4. An FTP program will allow you to upload your home page to our server. We suggest CuteFTP (a trial version can be downloaded from our website - go to 'Downloads'.


  5. After building your webite, you'll need to upload it to your web space on our server.

  6. The remote host is:   ftp.thepipeline.net
    The remote directory is:   /active/yourusername/www
    The local directory is the folder you stored your pages on your hard drive
    You will need to use your username and password to gain access.
    Your log-in type should be set to 'normal' and you should set the  transfer-type to 'auto'. 
    Make sure to upload your files into the www folder.  If you don't see your www folder give us a call or send an email to webmaster@thepipeline.net and we'll set one up for you.

  7. When you are done uploading you and your friends can view your page at: www.thepipeline.net/~yourusername


  8. Now click on the banner and submit your site to the search engines
