Short-Cuts & More

You may know about these simple keyboard short-cuts but if you don't they can be pretty handy:

Ctrl b opens Bookmarks in Netscape and Favorites in IE
Ctrl h opens History in Netscape
Ctrl r refreshes the page in both browsers
Ctrl m opens a new mail message composition in Netscape
Ctrl n opens a new browser window in both
Ctrl w closes both browsers
Easy isn't it?

Your Cache is a folder of files from all the web sites you visit. This is so you won't have to wait for a page you revisit to load everything all over again. It's a good thing to have the cache size set to a high number and it is equally important to keep it cleared. It's easy to accomplish this in Netscape and IE.

In Netscape 4.0 and higher:
click on edit on the menu bar
click on preferences at the bottom of the menu
click on advanced then
click on cache. You can now clear both of the cache areas.

In IE
right click on the Internet Explorer icon
click on properties
in the general tab
click on delete temporary internet files.

I's a good idea to clear your cache ever time you log off the web.

 A Serious Note:
There are viruses out there that can infiltrate your computer and steal all your passwords and worse.  But if you are careful about what you download (never download files in your e-mail from people you don't know or from sites you don't trust) you should be pretty safe.  An easier and more logical target for hackers is corporate and banking networks.   Check out more about viruses where to go, what to do, and what you should have to have to protect yourself.
